DUTY DONE… Faithful Scribe Departing…
Dear Friends and RTR Faithful,
Good morning. It’s Sunday, 26 October 2020.
Nearly five years ago (March 2016) I created and launched this website with the expert assistance of my step-daughter Angie-“Mighty Thunder”. Our purpose was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War and Operation Rolling Thunder, and to honor the intrepid American aviators, both living and dead, who carried out the strikes on military targets in North Vietnam during the years of Rolling Thunder, March 1965 to November 1968. Mission accomplished.
During those 56-months we composed and posted 1,200 daily and weekly historical summaries–more than 3.5-million words–highlighting the air war, and the warriors who fought it, over North Vietnam and Southeast Asia. The record of history we now pass on has been received and read by several hundred thousands and will, hopefully, remain available and active for decades to come as a history lesson worthy of remembrance and study.
This post is my final contribution to a project that has been a labor of love–and duty. The duty we all have to “never forget” those who gave their lives for our beloved homeland during the perilous years of the Vietnam War.
At 85, with the clock is ticking loudly, I have a few other projects to tackle that make this decision to move-on necessary.

(Webmaster note: My most sincere appreciation to Bear for persevering through this gargantuan task. The baton has been passed to me, your humble webmaster, to preserve and grow your efforts. Bear, if you ever need a wingman, I will fly into the fires of hell with you! Just slow down your F-18 a bit so I can catch up in my Super Decathlon!)
Bear:
Thanks. I have enjoyed them all.
Fred
It was an honor and a privilege to be a part of Rolling Thunder Remembered. Not only did I learn a lot; I enjoyed being able to help Bear with getting his stories out there. I truly enjoyed the posts of Mighty Thunder; and I’m proud to have played a small part in this nearly 4 year long project. Love you Bear!
