The annual Run for the Wall motorcycle event is kicking off for another Memorial Day ride the to Vietnam Wall in Washington, DC. Yesterday I had the honor of accompanying Luck Patterson, brother of LCDR James Kelly Patterson, to the headquarters for the southern route in Ontario, California. Kelly, an A-6 Bombardier/Navigator, remains MIA after being shot down on 19 May 1967. The story of Kelly’s loss is chronicled in chapter one my book Across the Wing.
The organization that puts on the ride has a huge set of angel wings that contains the dog tags of those missing in action in Southeast Asia. Yesterday, in a solemn moment of remembrance, Luck affixed his brother’s dog tags to the wings.
If able, please support Run for the Wall as well as other events and organizations that remember our fallen, and our missing. Lest we Forget…
