Hello All,
A quick Easter update on Rolling Thunder Remembered (RTR) for all you intrepid fans. I have just finished posting about a dozen new Task Force Omega profiles. Another batch will be posted over the next few weeks. If there are any MIAs you would like me to highlight in this next round please contact me using the contact form or e-mail.
I am still on schedule to begin the long-awaited RTR (video) podcasts. These should begin production late this year or early next year. The holdup is not only other worthy projects I am spending quite a bit of time on, but also the cost of the equipment to produce these podcasts, which is considerable. A reminder that any purchases you make from the RTR store helps fund this and other RTR endeavors.
On the topic of other worthy projects, on 26 April Lyon Air Museum will be commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon. For any of you in the Orange/Los Angeles/San Diego counties, your attendance would be our honor. There will be a morning discussion panel with three American Vietnam vets and three Republic of Vietnam vets, moderated by yours truly. Immediately following the discussion panel will be a special History on the Flight Line event featuring airworthy aircraft of the Vietnam war such as the O-1 Bird Dog, T-28 Trojan, O-2 Skymaster, OV-10 Bronco, A-26 Invader, C-47 Skytrain, Hu-16 Albatross, and the indomitable HU-1 Huey. Guests will be able to go on our ramp, get a close look at these phenomenal aircraft, and ask questions of the pilots. We are hoping to add more aircraft in the coming weeks leading up to the event. I will post more information here as it becomes available. Another tidbit—USS Midway will be hosting their commemoration on 27 April, and it will be a big one considering the crucial part the boat played in Operation Frequent Wind. If you will be in the San Diego area that day I highly recommend your attendance. Also on the calendar is my keynote speech at the City of Laguna Niguel Memorial Day Remembrance ceremony on 26 May. It will be at the Sea Country Community Center. I believe it will kick off at 1100.
Lastly, today, 29 April, is National Vietnam War Veterans Day. Please take a moment to thank these brave men and women for their selfless service. God bless them all.
